Here we go… again!

December 10, 2009

Our insurance company unexpectedly came through and the ultrasound we thought we were going to have to wait until the new year to have, we had TODAY!!!

Chris had today off and the office was able to squeeze us in today instead of our regularly scheduled appointment tomorrow.  It was a nice way to start our day!

We settled in for the ultrasound and low and behold the first thing we saw was… BOY PARTS!!!  Yes, that’s right folks. We will be a family of one girl and three boys.  Phew.  I’m tired just thinking about it!  We really thought this little one was going to even us back up and add another dose of girliness to our family, but for whatever reason God decided a bit more testosterone was really what we needed.

Elizabeth and I were disappointed at first, but we’ve jumped on the boy-bandwagon and are re-adjusting our minds to ‘boy’ this afternoon.  We won’t be shopping for all things pink, and that’s a bit of a bummer.  But Elizabeth has started to realize that it may not be so bad to be the only girl… No sharing a bedroom -ever.  No one to fight over Mama’s wedding dress with (she’s bound and determined she’s wearing my dress at this point, which I love!).  Great Grandma’s diamond? All her’s.  Shopping, mani’s and pedi’s with Mama- and ONLY Mama.  And the wedding budget?  Bring it on!  She doesn’t have to share that one either!

So as much as Elizabeth and I both were imagining and dreaming of girl talk, secrets and whispers late at night between sisters, ultimately we are ALL so happy that this newest little one is healthy, wiggly, growing and yes, A BOY.  There is something so special and sweet about the connection I have with my sons and that much I am so very much looking forward to doing for a third time.

The noise level, food consumption and stinky boy feet?  Oh boy (boy, boy).  THAT?  I’ll have to work on preparing myself for that.

Now for names… Hmmm.  Any suggestions?  We’re fresh out of boy names here!

How about Colin or Simon…..they would go nicely with the other English boy names in your family….. :)
Simon Barker….sounds like a famous man from the start!!!
I am thrilled that you are having a third boy!!! personally, two boys are great, and you add the third and their combined imaginations are endless!!! i agree with you about the special bond between a mother and son. Colin and Simon like to refer to the 3 of US (them and me) as a “posse”. They love their dad more than anything, but we all know who is first in their little hearts!!! And just think how much experience Elizabeth will have with all things BOY!! I think all little girls benefit from a healthy dose of “dirty little boys” in their life!!! Prepares them for that special “smelly” man in their life that is yet to come!!! Alright, the boys and Lance are making my birthday cake. the boys are beside themselves with excitement. They keep coming in and saying, “mom, we’re making your cake….but you can’t know anything about it!” Have a lovely afternoon!! Hope to see you again before too long!!!
